This 4 cent stamp from the 1913 “Junk Issue” of the Republic of China is printed in rich carmine using intaglio printing by Waterlow & Sons Ltd. The design features a Chinese junk under full sail, set against stylized water lines and framed by traditional Chinese ornamentation. It was primarily used for domestic printed matter up to 40 grams. The stamp is perforated 14 and printed on unwatermarked paper. This specimen bears a partial circular cancellation and light hinge marks on the reverse.
