This provincial issue from the Sinkiang (Xinjiang) region features the portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, overprinted with large black characters indicating its restricted use in Sinkiang. Issued in 1943 by the Central Trust Print office during a time of heightened administrative control in the Chinese frontier regions, the stamp reflects both the symbolic presence of the Republic and practical fiscal adaptations in the wartime economy. Printed in lilac carmine by typographic methods, it measures 22 x 25 mm and carries a denomination of 1 Chinese dollar. It has a comb perforation of 12½ and was issued ungummed as part of a regional adaptation policy. The blue-violet cancellations on the block are from Ürümqi, the provincial capital and political center of Sinkiang, and remain clearly legible across the stamps. The sheet is listed under multiple catalog systems: Michel CN-IM-SI 184, Scott CN-IM-SI 168, Yvert et Tellier CN-IM-SI 130, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM-SI 233, and China Stamp Society CN-IM SK211. Historically, this issue highlights the Republic of China's assertion of sovereignty over distant regions like Xinjiang during a time of conflict with both internal and external threats. Aesthetically, the composition remains crisp, and the overprint is well-aligned. Condition Very fine used block with rich color, full overprints, and clear Ca Ürümqi circular cancellations. Estimate "$40 – 55".
