This mint block of twelve stamps from the Republic of China’s 1942 definitive issue features the iconic portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of modern China. Printed by the Central Trust using typography, this edition is distinguished by its dark olive green color and was issued without gum as standard for this printing. Each stamp bears the denomination of 20 cents, flanked by traditional ornamental flourishes and the symbol of the Nationalist Party sun emblem at top center. The vertical characters translate to "Republic of China Postal Service", reinforcing the nationalistic ethos during the wartime period of the Second Sino-Japanese War. Blocks such as this, particularly from the Central Trust printings, are appreciated both for their clean layout and representation of early republican iconography. Catalogued as Michel CN-IM 450, Scott CN-IM 494, Yvert 368, SG 630A, and CSS 655, this unmounted mint example with full marginal selvage offers excellent preservation and visual uniformity across the pane.
