Issued on February 26, 1941, this engraved stamp commemorates the centenary of British colonial rule in Hong Kong, marked 1841–1941. The stamp features a finely detailed view of the University of Hong Kong’s Main Building against a mountainous backdrop, a symbol of education and colonial development. On the left is the portrait of King George VI, framed by laurel and crown, emphasizing imperial authority. The bilingual inscription includes both English and Chinese, while the denomination “5c” is prominently displayed. Printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ltd in green and black, the stamp measures 36 x 28 mm, is perforated 13, and bears the Multiple Script CA watermark. Catalogued as Michel HK 165, Scott HK 170, Yvert 163, and Stanley Gibbons HK 165, it remains one of the most iconic colonial commemoratives of pre-war Hong Kong.
