Issued on September 29, 1920, this 60 pfennig airmail stamp from the Free City of Danzig features a lilac-red design with a bold "Danzig" overprint, signifying its adaptation for local postal use following the city's establishment under the Treaty of Versailles. Printed by Reichsdruckerei in Berlin using typographic printing, the stamp measures 22 x 26 mm and has a comb perforation of 14 x 14¼. It is watermarked with upright lozenge-shaped "Pastillar" patterns and was part of a limited airmail issue with a total print run of 400,000. This stamp is cataloged as Michel DA 51, Scott DA C2, Yvert et Tellier DA PA2, and Stanley Gibbons DA 42.
