Issued in 1911 for use in the French post offices in Morocco, this stamp is part of the iconic “Type Blanc” series originally designed by Joseph Blanc and engraved by Emile Thomas. The stamp features allegorical figures representing Justice and Commerce, with the balance and horn of plenty clearly depicted. Overprinted “MAROC” in green and surcharged in red with “5c” to denote the local currency adjustment to Spanish centimos, it reflects the transitional postal economy under French influence in Morocco. Printed by typography on unwatermarked paper, the stamp measures 21 x 24 mm and has perforations 14 x 13½. The presence of the surcharge and local usage markings adds historical postal context and makes this stamp part of the narrative of colonial administration through philately. Catalogued as Michel FR-MA 28, Scott FR-MA 29, Yvert MA 28, and Stanley Gibbons FR-MA 31.
