Issued in 1908 during the French Protectorate period in Morocco, this 2 céntimos stamp forms part of the overprinted “Type Blanc” series, which adapted French definitive designs for local postal use with Spanish currency denominations. The stamp features the allegorical figure of Liberty holding scales and a mirror, flanked by cherubs, a symbolic composition echoing French republican ideals. The original base stamp is in a reddish brown hue, typical of the 2 centime denomination, with a bold black overprint reading “2 CENTIMOS” signifying its reassignment in Spanish currency. Measuring 21 x 25 mm and printed via typography with comb perforation 14 x 13½, this issue reflects colonial administrative pragmatism and cultural intersection. It was printed without watermarks and designed by Émile Thomas and Joseph Blanc. This example is used, with a visible circular date cancel and clear back, showing no hinge remnants. Estimate "$10 – 15".
