Issued by the Sino-French Post Office in Tchongking in 1906, this block of four stamps originates from the Type Grasset design series overprinted with “Tch'ong K'ing” and corresponding Chinese characters. Printed by the Imperial Printing Office (Imprimerie Nationale) in Paris, the stamp depicts an allegorical figure of commerce in a mythological style, reflecting the broader Navigation and Commerce theme. Denominated at 30 French centimes, the stamps are printed in maroon on chamois paper using typography, with a perforation of 14 x 13½. The overprint was applied for usage at the French post office in Tchongking during a period of expanding foreign postal influence in China. Each stamp measures 20 x 24 mm and the block includes top margin selvage with partial red printer's guideline. The stamps are in mint never hinged (MNH) condition, though aged gum and toning are visible on the reverse. Estimate "$140 – 180"
