Issued between 1905 and 1913 for the German International Post Offices in China, this typographed definitive series includes four values featuring Germania, the crowned female personification of the German Empire. Designed by Paul Eduard Waldraff, each stamp measures 22 x 26 mm and is perforated 14 x 14¼. The set spans denominations from 1 to 10 Chinese cents and includes both watermark and no-watermark varieties. The 1 cent stamp (ochre brown, issued October 1, 1905) is without watermark, while the higher values—including the 10 cent in dark violet-ultramarine issued in 1913—carry the upright lozenge watermark. These stamps were printed to assert imperial presence and prestige within foreign-controlled postal enclaves during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic era. Mint never hinged with full gum and strong impressions, they are catalogued as Michel DR-CHI 28–41, Scott DR-CHI 37–50, Yvert et Tellier DR-CHI 29–42, Stanley Gibbons DR-CHI 36–49, and AFA DR-CHI 28–41. This MNH group of four offers both aesthetic harmony and historical insight into German colonial-era philately in East Asia. Estimate "$190 – 240"
