Issued in 1903 by the French Post Office in Yunnanfou, this 30 centimes stamp bears a black “YUNNANSEN” overprint along with a Chinese denomination in double figures. The design, part of the Navigation and Commerce series by Louis-Eugène Mouchon, was printed in blue and brown on light grey paper using typography at the Imperial Printing Office in Paris. Measuring 20 by 24 mm and perforated 14 x 13½, the stamp embodies allegorical representations of trade, goods, and classical mythology, underscoring France’s imperial and commercial aspirations in Yunnan during the late Qing period. Catalogued as Scott YUN 9 (Michel FR-IC B26VI, Yvert FR-YUN 9, Gibbons FR-YUN 9), this mint hinged example is well-preserved with original gum showing hinge traces. Remarkably, this specimen displays an offset of the overprint “YUNNANSEN” on the reverse—a rare and collectible printing variety that adds to its philatelic value. Estimate "$110 – 135"
