This Italian postal card, issued under the Universal Postal Union standards, features a red 10 centesimi indicium with the portrait of King Umberto I, printed on buff stock with ornate arms and crossed flags. The indicium corresponds to Scott IT UX7 and was postmarked "FIRENZE FERROVIA 17.5.93" with a circular railway cancellation. Addressed to Paris, France, the card is neatly written and signed by the secretary of the Royal Tuscan Horticultural Society in Florence, requesting issues of a French horticultural publication. The reverse displays elegant cursive French handwriting, dated 17 Mai 1893, enhancing its postal history and epistolary charm. Catalogued also as Michel IT P7, Sassone IT P7, and Unificato IT CP7. A fine and clean example of late 19th-century international correspondence between scientific societies. Estimate "$60 – 90"
